Recent Doubletree Guest Doheny Beach Review: "We stayed here overnight before heading out on a whale watching excursion. It is conveniently located -- if a little odd to arrive at ( you must make a u-turn down the road in order get to it). Our suite was very spacious and well-appointed, even though the bathroom was a tad bit on the small side. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, but the pillows  (they were all feather) were a not to my liking (too soft for me). We had dinner at the Vivo bar which offered an amazing array of prepared drinks as well as happy hour discounts on some snacks & beers and wines. The bartenders were well versed in their craft and the ambiance was very nice. There was a live singer as well, and she was a real treat to listen to. We had breakfast the next morning in the cafe and the eggs Benedict was superb, as was the service. The only complaints I have are: - Our room was right across the hall from the ice machine, which was unfortunate because it was LOUD...especially in the middle of the night. The rooms could do with some extra sound-proofing on the hall-side, especially around the doors. - Parking was a bit excessive. $20+ a night for the "privilege" of using space under the building which would otherwise go to waste seems a bit greedy. - Charging for internet service is SO not right. When other hotels -- even the low-budget ones down the street -- can offer free internet service I'm sure the DoubleTree can certainly pony up and do likewise. If I had it to do over again, I'd probably stay here, but specify a room away from the ice machine."
